Student Events

The PTA hosts a variety of student events throughout the year. Here are a few highlights from 2023!

Fall Carnival

Fall Carnival is an annual event at which students and families meet outside on a Friday night for carnival games, a dunk tank, face painting, food, and more. Usually in late September or early October, it’s a great chance to reconnect with old friends and make new ones.

Book Fair

Forestville Elementary hosts a yearly book fair the week before Thanksgiving.  This is a fantastic fundraiser for the school and a fun chance for parents to encourage a love of reading and buy some new books before winter. There’s also an opportunity to donate books to your teacher(s) classroom.

The book fair is a week long event in the library. Students visit with their classes during their usual library period. In addition to being able to shop during the day, the PTA hosts an ice social during one night to allow our families to come in and shop during the evenings hours.  The PTA partners with BookWorm and the Forestville librarian and staff to make book fair possible. If you’d like to help organize or volunteer at the book fair itself, please email us!

Thanksgiving Luncheon

Our annual Thanksgiving Luncheon is a special time where you and your family can come have lunch with your child(ren). Each grade will have its own time slot and you will have the option to purchase a cafeteria turkey lunch or bring in something special.  It’s usually in the middle of the week before Thanksgiving break. If you are purchasing a cafeteria lunch, we will request  for parents to RSVP by the end of October, for the cafeteria to plan accordingly.  Keep a look out for the communications and ways to volunteer!

Bingo Night

Each winter, the PTA hosts a Bingo Night and Ice Cream Social. Kids and parents can play up to five games of Bingo. There are items raffled between each game, including gift cards and donations from local businesses.

Talent Show

Calling all singers, actors, dancers, magicians, comedians and more! The annual Forestville talent show will return in May of 2024. The first night will feature performers in grades K-3 and the second grades 4-6. More information to come before spring break!

Sock Hop

For grades 4-6, the sock hop at the end of the year is a chance to see friends outside of school. In addition to the live DJ, there are games and food. It’s an opportunity for the older students to dance, goof around, and socialize in a supervised setting. If you would like to help organize this event, please be in touch!

K-3 Fun Fest

The K-3 Fun Fest is the age-appropriate counterpart of the soc hop for Forestville’s younger students. It’s a chance for the younger students to socialize with one another outside of school hours. Additionally, there’s always some live entertainment show during the evening. This is NOT a drop off event, and does require a parent to be with the students. Siblings and family members are welcome to join.

6th Grade Graduation

Traditionally, the events are “kicked off” with a students vs. faculty kickball game followed by a picnic lunch.  Following the graduation ceremony, there are light refreshments and opportunities for photos with the newly-minted graduates. Each 6th grade class puts their own twist on the event. Stay tuned for more information about this year’s event!
